#TeenBlogSeries: ASOS Top Picks

Monday, 8 September 2014

For the third week of #teenblogseries, we will all be blogging about our favourite highstreet shop and our picks from that store. I'm hoping it's okay that I've chosen an online store but for me they fiercely compete with all of the shops we can find on the highstreet. The online store I'm referring to here is ASOS who offer a variety of fashion and beauty items, from a plethora of brands, as well as housing there own line of clothing and accessories. If you have never been on the ASOS website, I would highly recommend having a browse, especially in the sale section where I have found many a bargain!

Now that I've told you a little about my favourite shop, I'm going to share a few of my recent favourites that I've spotted, specifically those that are Autumn/Winter '14 appropriate!

1) The Balm Shady Lady Vol. 2 Palette, Was £26.50, Now £19.50
I have seen some really amazing reviews of The Balm but have never tried anything from them. This palette has some gorgeous and wearable colours for every occasion and I would definitely wear all of them! It would be great for anyone wanting to downsize their eyeshadow collection or for a beginner looking for an all round option!

2) ASOS Scallop Trim Cross Body Bag in Oxblood and Green, £16
I absolutely adore the style of this bag and couldn't decide which colour was my favourite so decided to show you both! These two colours just sum up Autumn-Winter for me and I am excited to incorporate some pieces in these colours into my wardrobe. Let me know which colour you prefer in the comments below!

This watch is so simple but that's why I love it! My current everyday watch is silver but I am starting to wear more gold jewellery so have been looking for an affordable gold watch and this one looks pretty perfect! The double strap adds a little edge whilst the general design is still very classic.

This brings me onto another benefit of ASOS- they stock New Look clothing! I usually find that the range is better too! This dress is perfect, especially in the cooler weather with a thick pair of tights. The pattern, the shape, the sleeves, everything!

5) ASOS Align Ankle Boots, Were £40, Now £18
These are such a fantastic classic boot option- I love the simplicity and the fact that they could be paired with jeans for a casual daytime look or with dressier outfits! The price makes them even better!

There are so many lovely pieces on the ASOS site so I would definitely recommend having a look for yourself- I tried to narrow it down to my favourites but I could have continued listing for a while! It was very difficult to choose my favourite 'highstreet' store but some of my other favourites are New Look, Zara and Dorothy Perkins, if you're interested! On a side note, if you plan on placing multiple orders on ASOS or you already do, I'd certainly consider signing up to ASOS Premier; it is £9.99 per year but gives you unlimited next day delivery and free collection of returns... definitely worth it considering the ever rising delivery fees!

#TeenBlogSeries: Foundation and Brow Routine!

Monday, 1 September 2014

Today's post is the second in the #teenblogseries that I am partaking in and it's definitely a good one! Finding a good everyday foundation can be a difficult task but when you get it right, along with a good eyebrow routine, it can really bring the wow factor to your look. That being said, today I'm going to be sharing my own foundation and brow routine and the products that I recommend you check out!

For a very long time, I didn't wear any form of foundation on a daily basis, just simply concealer and powder but fairly recently, I have found a product that has changed that. The Body Shop's Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream is that product! I have tried various other BB creams as alternatives to a foundation whilst still giving some coverage but have always had problems with the colour options being too dark or orange and the formulas being less than desirable! However, I have experienced neither problem with this one. I use the lightest colour which is perfect for all of you fellow pale skinned girls and the formula is lighter than a foundation but it still gives a fair amount of build-able coverage. Another highlight of this BB cream is that it blends so easily but I would say it is best applied with the fingers rather than a brush. Finally, the fact that it contains tea tree oil makes it a perfect match for sometimes blemish prone teenage skin; you can wear face makeup without feeling like you are clogging up your skin! Alone this product is great, but paired with your favourite concealer and powder, you'll be onto a winner!

Now, onto the brows! Having well maintained brows, for me, probably makes the biggest difference in the overall finish of a makeup look but it is also extremely easy for them to go wrong! Ask any girl who has been grooming her brows for a few years and I'm sure she'll have at least one mishap story! To avoid that, if you're new to brows, and unless yours are naturally tidy and shaped (jealous!), I'd recommend getting them threaded or waxed professionally or asking someone else to give you a hand for the first time as over-plucking can happen in the blink of an eye... especially with those deceiving zoomed in beauty mirrors! After that, it's just about finding a shape that you like and are comfortable with and maintaining them. My brows are a little sparse in places so I fill them in but this is totally personal preference! I would highly recommend a powder product for this as it's much more natural and you can use an eyebrow brush to comb the product through easily. There are many products for this but I use a matte eyeshadow colour that is very slightly lighter than my eyebrows; the colour that matches my brows best is from Avon a few years ago but there are many great options around. I know that Sleek do a great little all-in-one brow palette that is really affordable, as well as many other drugstore brands.

Overall, for both foundation and brows, I would say it's all about finding what suits you! Some people love and feel they need a very heavy foundation and others just don't. Similarly with brows, recently the statement brow trend has erupted but equally a natural but well shaped brow can add a classic, clean finish to your look!

I hope you've enjoyed this second post in the #teenblogseries! It would be great if you could go and check out the other bloggers who are taking part in this series. Some of my favourite bloggers from last week's post are listed below:

Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream Review!

Sunday, 24 August 2014

I have always been a huge fan of the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer but a few weeks ago, I found myself perusing the stand in Boots and decided to give one of their Cream Puff Lip Creams a go. I'd spotted them before but always overlooked them and all I can say is that I wish I'd found them sooner!

Collection Cream Puff Lip Cream in Cotton Candy

There are four colour options including a pink, coral, nude and beige and these are described as being a moisturising lip product whilst still leaving a matte finish... they certainly live up to both! I chose the pink colour which is aptly named 'Cotton Candy' and is a beautiful rosy colour that is bright but also muted enough. The formulation is lovely and is very creamy, leaving a velvet-like matte feeling on the lips and they have a faint but pleasant sweet smell which isn't at all off putting. The only down-side that I have found to this product so far is that after a little while it does fade unevenly, leaving a bizarre lip liner effect if you don't reapply it regularly enough.

I would highly recommend checking these out, especially with the insanely appealing price tag of £2.99- I will definitely be going to get the other colours. These are available in Boots stores and online here

Statement Jewellery!

Tuesday, 19 August 2014

Chunky statement jewellery has the power to make the simplest outfits look a little more 'put together' and whether I've been pairing it with jeans and a plain t-shirt or with an evening dress, I have been loving the look! So for today's post, I am sharing a few of my favourite recent chunky jewellery purchases...

The first two are necklaces which I surprisingly stumbled upon in Primark. This first one has multi-coloured pastel floral detailing with some rhinestones but the main chain of the necklace is gold, which I love as much of my everyday jewellery is silver. This has been my 'go-to' jewellery choice recently for spicing up an outfit, namely white t-shirts and blouses and I think the colour palette is simply stunning! Primark items aren't available online but it is a fairly recent purchase so I would definitely recommend popping in-store for a look!

I haven't worn this second necklace as much, probably because it is much plainer but I adore it! It consists of silver pieces made up of a twisted rope style detailing and goes with pretty much everything! Again, this was a Primark bargain find and is probably still in-store!
My last favourites are a little different because they are a pair of earrings that I picked up in the Accessorize sale a few weeks ago. After seeing statement necklaces absolutely everywhere all summer, when I saw these, I knew I needed to incorporate them into an outfit somehow. These have a large pastel purple stone in the middle and a mother of pearl back and despite being quite large, the colours look delicate and pretty. I would say that the pictures really don't do these justice but I hope to put together some outfit posts with these in the future! These aren't available online but may still be in stores; however, Accessorize have these beautiful pastel blue statement earrings that may be an alternative!

I am really excited to start looking for some more autumnal jewellery pieces and have also been loving the dainty jewellery trend so plan to do some posts based around those soon. If there is anything you would like to see on my blog, let me know!

My Shoe Wishlist!

Monday, 4 August 2014

I have always been totally enthralled by shoes and at the moment, my wishlist of shoes that I've got my eyes on is growing rapidly so I thought I would share a few of them with you all!

I have wanted a pair of loafers or moccasins from fat face for months after seeing some that my sister has had for over a year. I think these are perfectly classic and somewhat vintage-like and could be worn with jeans and dresses alike!

Now, these weren't a planned part of this post as I spotted them when finding the link for the above pair... I just can't help myself! I am obsessed with this forest/hunter green colour and saw a particularly lovely handbag in accessorize today in this colour that very nearly came home with me! I absolutely love these!

As a converse fan, I absolutely love these as a prettier and more feminine option. I love all of the patterns and prints but these red polka dot ones are probably my favourite! In the UK, these are available at Schuh in most stores and online and I also visited a Hollister store today that was carrying the brand, although the range was very limited.

There are a few pairs of Sperrys that I like the look of although I keep getting drawn to these because of the beautiful floral panel- love the colours and love the print! Boat shoes are a great summer staple and these are the ultimate! If you aren't a fan of the floral, I'd definitely check out some of the solid coloured ones; they are available in the UK at Schuh!
I love this style of sandal and I definitely think we have enough of summer yet to rock these for a while longer! The double strap detail gives this simple shoe a little something more which I adore!

As if I needed another pair of sandals... actually, of course I do! ASOS has really delivered with these beautiful floral printed sandals and I really think these would brighten up any plain outfits, as well as being dark enough to be autumn appropriate!
Image 1 of ASOS HALCYON Heeled Sandals
Yes, another ASOS pick! I think these will be a real love-hate option but I for one absolutely love them! The colour is gorgeous for adding a pop of colour and the small block heel means that they are perfect for everyday wear...
Image 1 of ASOS SUNSET Pointed Heels

My last shoe pick is a little strange as it's a trainer but I have been wanting these for a while now and as an intermittent (weather permitting!!) runner, I think I would get a fair amount of use out of them!

As you can imagine, there are many more shoes that I could happily add to this list but for now, these 8 are the main ones! I'd love to know which shoes you're currently craving so share them below!

Have a fantastic day!
